Is ShopInverse Legit: A Honest Review of a UK-used Laptop Store in Nigeria

Hello and welcome to our classic review of ShopInverse International Ltd.

I have been an active follower of ShopInverse since November 2022. At that time, I was looking to buy a reliable used laptop whose price was easy on the pocket.

They were very active on Facebook where they shared pictures of sleek laptops. When I finally saw the one I liked, I was a bit hesitant to place an order. I had a lot of questions:

  1. “Is ShopInverse Legit”
  2. “How will I receive my order? And how fast?”
  3. “Will the laptop arrive just as seen?”
  4. “What’s their customer service like?”
  5. “Do they offer the best prices in the market?”

If you share these concerns, keep reading! Based on my experience, I’ll answer all these questions in detail.

ShopInverse is a Nigerian company specializing in fairly used laptops. In this review, we’ll explore their selection, pricing, buying process, laptop condition, delivery, and customer service.

Is ShopInverse Legit?

Short Answer: Yes, absolutely. Shop Inverse is 100% legit. The company was founded by Ezekwe Innocent Oluchi, an award-winning entrepreneur, in 2014. They have physical locations in Lagos and Abuja (both in Nigeria). Also, I have personally been to their store in Maryland Mall, Lagos. Also, I ordered from them online in June 2023.

Below is everything else you need to know about Shop Inverse. (I have rated them to give you a gauge of my experience).

ShopInverse Buying Process [5/5]

One of the first things a legit store should have is accessibility. Are they open physically? Do they have a website that is active 24/7?

Across all their platforms (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter), I noticed how their staff are always quick to respond to comments of potential customers with a “sir” or “ma”. Their physical addresses are also open from 9 am to 6 pm, Mondays to Saturdays.

I particularly loved how their website is:

  • User-friendly — I had no issues with navigation and it loads really fast.
  • Easily searchable — I could filter the products on the website according to brands.
  • Always available — even in the middle of the night, the website is active.
  • An eCommerce Store — Like Jumia or Konga, I could easily place an order and pay for items in my cart.

Selection and Pricing on ShopIverse [4/5]

Since I was planning to buy through their website, I had the opportunity to scroll through a lot of laptops. This is really helpful when buying stuff. You know, I had a wide range of choices to pick from and was able to compare their prices and specifications to select my best fit.

While ShopInverse laptops are affordable and close to the average market price, I found slightly cheaper prices of the same laptop on Jiji (a platform where used items are sold in Nigeria).

However, I still opted for ShopInverse simply because I trusted them to deliver.

ShopInverse Delivery Process [4/5]

I would say their delivery is solid, but it’s not the best. Delivery of items within Lagos does not take long. Within 48 hours, you get it. However, deliveries outside Lagos, especially to places in the North can take up to 3 – 7 business days.

The reason is that ShopInverse relies on an internal courier company to deliver laptops to their customers. So, their customer service offers full support and order tracking services.

In my case, the product arrived late by a day. When I asked, the customer service told me it was due to the massive orders they receive on their promo offer. It is also worth mentioning that the delivery man sounded buoyant throughout, allowing me to even unwrap my HP laptop before he left.

Condition of Laptop Received from ShopInverse [5/5]

Over time, I have known ShopInverse to be a very trustworthy company. For instance, to avoid customer dissatisfaction, they usually put the condition of the laptop at the bottom of their product description.

If the laptop has some little scratches or the battery needs replacement, trust them to let you know.

As for me, I ensured I checked their product description well — the RAM, the battery hours, the screen size and the rest. So, when the order came in, I didn’t have to create a “What I Ordered VS What I Got” post.

Some Perks of Buying from ShopInverse

While I was looking for a laptop then, I saw many Instagram vendors but many of them did not provide some of the bonuses that ShopInverse provided:

  • 30 Days Limited Warranty (You can check their warranty policy here)
  • 100% Quality Guaranteed.
  • Quick Customer Support.
  • Telegram Chat Support (Join their Telegram channel here)

How I Bought a UK-used Laptop at a Ridiculous Price

I’m Abdulbasit, a student and freelance writer.

In the first half of 2023, I was very much in need of a laptop. I was planning hard on writing more blog posts and personal articles. But the year was passing away. I had to do something quick. later, I saw that it was not feasible to get a new one from Jumia or Konga.

That was where Shop Inverse came in. I’ve been following them on Instagram for about one and a half years. On Insta, they share stunning pictures of laptops and laptop accessories — whether high-end, lightweight, or detachable. You just name it, they have it!

Before ordering the laptop from Shop Inverse, I was very sure I could trust them. I’ve listed them here:

1. They’ve shared testimonies of customers over the years. They’ve got good reviews too.

2. They have a physical presence. From a passing bus, I’ve once seen their shop building in Maryland Mall, Maryland, Lagos.

3. Their website was functional and often updated with new stocks at least weekly. Trust me, this matters a lot.

Despite this, I was Nigerian, and have heard of several scam cases. I still had a bit of doubt in my mind. Should I just visit their physical address to get the laptop? Should I order it online via their website?

The dealmaker came when I saw a laptop that they said was soon going out of stock.  Again, I had to do something quick. I stayed in Ogun state which was a border state to Lagos (where Shop Inverse is based). Without further ado, I proceeded to order the laptop from their website.

It was a Chromebook—HP Chromebook 14 G5. The laptop was a perfect fit for me since I would only be doing light stuff on the laptop. Chromebooks are built on the ChromeOS. Unlike traditional laptops, Chromebooks rely heavily on an internet connection and cloud-based apps for functionality. Hence, they are fast, simple and secure.

Okay, let me tell you what I mostly do on it (after 4 months):

  • Browsing more than 20 websites at once
  • Write on Google Docs and Google Keep
  • Use other Google Workspace apps — Slide
  • Make designs on Canva
  • Read Slides and PDFs of lectures
  • Watch Youtube
  • I also get to download some apps on Playstore

I ordered an HP Chromebook on the ***** for 39,500 Naira only plus 5,000 Naira for delivery. It was time to wait for my package. Since I was outside Lagos, delivery will anywhere from 3-7 business days. However, orders within Lagos state take 24hrs-48hrs.

I had to be patient.

The order arrived on the ***. It was 2 days late. I contacted their customer care and they assured me that my order had been processed. “The delay is due to the large volume of orders we received from promo we’re currently running,” they further said.

On receiving the laptop, I couldn’t have been more eager to remove its packaging. The delivery man throughout our meeting was warm enough. Returning home, I unpackaged it. It looked as though it was never used (and that’s one thing about most UK-used laptops).

I came a with a fast USB-C charger. I thought I’d get a laptop bag too, but later found out the laptop bags are for when you place an order over NGN 100,000. You also get free delivery to anywhere in Nigeria.

Getting that laptop from Shop Inverse is definitely one of the best decisions I made this year. I totally recommend them!
